Technical Information
A closer look at Goblin’s equipment capability, working reach, grapple saw operation and specialist lifting support for controlled, safety-led projects.
The combination of a high-capacity crane, JIB and GMT grapple saw allows timber and sections to be held, cut and controlled with precision. This reduces the need for manual handling in high-risk areas and supports safer working around buildings, roads, gardens, estates, commercial premises and other sensitive environments.
- 37m vertical reach and 34m horizontal reach
- Controlled tree removal and specialist heavy lifting capability
- LOLER compliant, PUWER compliant and RAMS-led delivery
Equipment Capability
The core of the Goblin fleet is a Volvo FH540 6×4, specified on a very short wheelbase to provide excellent site access in both urban and rural environments. Fitted with a 78 tonne metre crane, JIB and GMT grapple saw, it delivers a high-capacity solution for controlled tree dismantling and specialist heavy lifting operations.
The compact setup allows the vehicle to get into locations where larger lifting equipment may struggle, while still providing the reach, stability and lifting power needed for demanding work. This makes it especially useful for restricted access sites, roadside operations, private estates, commercial premises and tree removal projects where space, safety and control are critical.
- Very short wheelbase for better access and positioning
- 78 tonne metre crane with JIB and grapple saw capability
- 360 degree slew capability for tight and restricted locations
Grapple Saw Capability
The GMT 035 TTC grapple saw is a purpose-built attachment for controlled tree handling and cutting during mechanised operations. Mounted to the crane, it allows sections to be securely gripped, cut and placed with accuracy from the ground, reducing the need for climbing in higher-risk situations.
This approach combines a hydraulic saw with a heavy-duty grab, allowing large stems and limbs to be cut and managed under full control at all times. It is particularly effective in tight or complex environments where precision, safety and predictable handling are critical.
- Secure grip, cut and controlled placement from the ground
- Reduces the need for climbing in higher-risk situations
- Well suited to tight, restricted and complex working environments
Safety, Planning and Compliance
All lifting and mechanised operations are undertaken in line with LOLER and PUWER requirements, with clear planning, site-specific RAMS and method-led delivery built around the needs of each project. This approach helps ensure work is carried out safely, efficiently and with full consideration for access, surroundings, infrastructure and site constraints.
Goblin supports projects where controlled lifting, reduced manual handling and predictable execution are essential. From restricted access and infrastructure environments to sensitive or time-critical operations, the equipment and operating approach are designed to provide a safer, more controlled solution on site.
- LOLER compliant and PUWER compliant working methods
- Site-specific RAMS and lift planning available
- Reduced exposure to risk through controlled handling and placement
Working Reach and Operating Envelope
Goblin’s equipment configuration provides the reach and flexibility needed for controlled work in difficult environments. The current setup offers a vertical reach of 37m and a horizontal reach of 34m, giving strong coverage for complex dismantling and lifting operations where positioning and site constraints matter.
- Vertical Reach – 37m
- Horizontal Reach – 34m
