Heavy Lifting Services
Specialist lifting capability supporting arboricultural and construction environments.

In addition to mechanised arboricultural capability, Goblin Grapple Saw provides specialist lifting services to support a range of commercial and infrastructure projects.
High reach lifting equipment allows controlled lifting and placement of timber, plant, equipment and structural materials where precision and safety are essential.

This capability can support arboricultural contractors, construction teams and infrastructure providers requiring additional lifting capacity within constrained environments.
What is a Crane Truck and How is it Used for Heavy Lifting?
A crane truck is a HGV fitted with a hydraulic lifting crane mounted behind the cab or at the rear of the vehicle. The crane is designed to lift, move and place heavy materials or equipment directly from the vehicle without requiring a separate mobile crane.Lorry loader cranes are treated as lifting equipment under the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER). This means they must be properly maintained, thoroughly examined, and all lifting operations must be planned and carried out safely.
Why it is Safer than Traditional Methods of Working?
Using a crane truck significantly reduces the risks associated with manual handling and improvised lifting methods.
The Health and Safety Executive identifies manual handling as one of the most common causes of workplace injury in the UK. Crane assisted lifting removes much of the physical strain placed on workers by allowing heavy loads to be moved mechanically rather than by hand.
Key safety advantages include:

Controlled lifting and placement
Loads can be lifted and positioned precisely and with the use of a fly jib items can be lifted & placed into areas cranes cannot reach or able to access.

Fewer people exposed to risk
Mechanical lifting reduces the number of people required to handle heavy items on site.

Planned lifting operations
Under UK law, lifting activities must be properly planned and supervised under LOLER, with equipment maintained in accordance with PUWER requirements.
This structured approach makes lifting operations more predictable and significantly reduces the likelihood of accidents.
When would you use a Crane Truck?
Crane trucks are typically used where heavy items need to be lifted and placed accurately but where bringing in a large mobile crane would be impractical or unnecessary.
Common situations include:
| Construction and infrastructure works | Plant and machinery movement | Restricted or urban sites |
| Lifting steel beams, structural components, building materials or site equipment into position. | Delivering and positioning generators, compressors, containers or other heavy equipment. | Locations where access is limited and a compact lifting solution is required. |
| Loading and unloading heavy materials | Maintenance and installation works |
| Deliveries where materials must be lifted directly from the vehicle to their final position. | Placing equipment on rooftops, behind buildings or in areas where manual handling would not be safe. |
In these situations a crane truck provides a flexible lifting solution that combines transport and lifting capability in one vehicle, allowing heavy loads to be handled safely and efficiently on site.
